Miike Snow - Animal

A swedish indie pop band, but I consider them more electro and very accepted internationally.  This song is a personal favorite, and I'd recommend it to those having difficulty making the transition from mainsteam shite to joining the house revolution.  It's just a feel good song playable on any occassion.  Plus, what's not to love about a bunch of swedes.  Miike Snow also plays DJ sets but we have yet to be blessed by one of their live sets.  They were featured in HARD at Terminal 5 in NYC with A-Trak and Yelawolf at then end of last year and are set up to play at many up and coming festivals.

Dubstep Banger

Benny Benassi has been championing Skrillex's music for quite a while, and recently he asked Skirllex to remix one of his songs.  The original (Cinema) is a much simpler, vocal sound but still hit hards.  Skrillex certainly hyped it up a bit with his groovy note sequences, and smashes it up in your face with the "womp-womp" dubstep.  I prefer this type of dubstep over many, because it combines sweet vocals with ridiculously hard dubstep and classic buildup.  Enjoy it you fucking animals.

Daily: Tiesto and some Dubstep

Don't really need to explain anything when it comes to Tiesto. Here is another great song from the master himself. Very smooth almost trance like beat accompanied by great vocals. As for the other song, if you aren't familiar with the name Flux Pavilion then you better get used to it because he is one of the biggest dubstep artists starting to explode on the scene. Just wait till right around 0:34 seconds and you'll see what I mean.

DJ Spotlight: Kaskade

No one has consistently torn up the charts in the way that Kaskade has over the past 10 years. This DJ/producer has turned out some of the biggest house hits that have become staples in the techno community. The way he mixes a almost trance like beat with smooth vocals equates for a eargasmic experience for anyone who listens to his songs. I had a chance to see him live at Electric Zoo 2010 with Mr. Randall Fish and it was a life changing event... no, but seriously.. it was epic!

DJ Spotlight: Skrillex

At first glance Skrillex doesn't look like your average techno dj, rather something out of heavy metal or hardcore rock band. But for the past 2 years no one has been melting faces better with the their dubstep beats than him. He has found a way to combine the hardcore style of dubstep with the smoothness and catchiness (not a word I know but go with it) of house beats. He even was recently signed to Mau5trap Records which is Joel Zimmerman's (better known as deadmau5) record label. I figured who better to start off our DJ's section of the blog than with Skrillex.

Starter Kit - Some Basic Tunes To Get You Started

Afrojack ft. Eva Simons - Take Over Control
 This song is a classic staple in any house music collection. It combines catchy/sexy vocals along with a dirty dutch beat that leaves anyone listening bobbing their head. This song really helped Afrojack explode and become much more of a household name for average music listeners.


Swedish House Mafia ft. Pharrell - One
Do I really even need to add a description for this one? Without question the #1 song of 2010, "One" was played consistently at every club/radio station/music festival over the past year including Electric Zoo (oohh the memories...) When SHM first released this song you could tell it was instantly going to be a classic, but when it was remixed with the vocals of Pharrell it became an all time BANGER!!!!


Deadmau5 ft. Rob Swire - Ghosts n Stuff
Like the song above, do I really even need to explain myself on this one? When Deadmau5 released "Ghosts n Stuff" it swept the nation as an instant classic! America had caught Mau5 fever. Catchy enough to be a radio hit yet true to house hearts with a funky beat and smooth vocals helped make Deadmau5 and his "Ghosts n Stuff" household names.


David Guetta - The World Is Mine
Long before he hit us with such chart toppers as "When Love Takes Over" and "Love Is Gone", world renowned dj David Guetta produced this great track that has a almost dark feel to it but yet smooth chorus. Great tune for sure.


Robin S - Show Me Love
Honestly, who doesn't know the words to this song? "Youuuuuu've got to show me LOVE!". Walk into any bar or club and you'll be guaranteed to hear this song played at least once sometime throughout the night. Sexy vocals and head boppin beat made this song a fan favorite.


Calvin Harris - You Used To Hold Me
Ever since the first time I heard this song it has become one of my all time favorites. A funky electro beat mixed with catchy lyrics found Calvin Harris' "You Used To Hold Me" popping up on playlists everywhere. If you like him I also suggest "I'm Not Alone (Deadmau5 remix)" and "Flashback".


Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
A classic house essential, this song features a funky beat with a simply chorus line. After one listen you'll find yourself hitting the repeat button, be careful though... gets stuck in your head pretty easily haha. Also suggest watching the music video.
